The Department of OS&OT now offers a Human Anatomy Challenge Exam for students who wish to challenge the Human Anatomy requirement. For more information and to determine eligibility, please visit our page on the Human Anatomy Challenge Exam.
The Human Anatomy Requirement for the MOT program is very content specific. As such, the Department of OS&OT requires that all 3-credit or equivalent courses accepted to fulfill this requirement cover the following content areas:
1) Upper limbs: bones, joints, muscles, nerves, and blood vessels in the upper limbs of the human body
2) Lower limbs: bones, joints, muscles, nerves, and blood vessels in the lower limbs of the human body
3) Trunk: bones, joints, muscles, nerves, and blood vessels in the back and thorax of the human body.
The Department of OS&OT reviews all courses that are accepted to fulfill the Human Anatomy requirement. The Accepted Human Anatomy Courses list represents courses that have been reviewed by a member of the MOT Admissions Committee and are found to meet all the above named content requirements based on the documentation submitted at the time of review The Declined Human Anatomy Courses list represents courses that have been reviewed by a member of the MOT Admissions and are not found to meet all the above named content requirements based on the documentation submitted at the time of review. Courses placed on the Declined Human Anatomy Courses list are assessed based on the information provided by the applicant submitting the course for review. If you believe a course that has been placed on this list fulfills the Human Anatomy requirement, feel free to submit additional information in order for a re-review to be conducted.

If you wish to have a course reviewed, send a completed copy of the Human Anatomy Assessment Form, along with electronic copies (preferably PDF or Word) of the accompanying documentation to rehana.frankland@ubc.ca. Applicants must carefully review the assessment form to ensure that the documentation being submitted explicitly shows the eight (8) major objectives listed on the form are covered in the course, and site where these eight (8) major objectives can be found in the documentation included for this review. Applicants must submit courses for review no later than December 1, 2013 if applying for the September 2014 intake. Courses submitted for review after this date will not be considered for the 2014 application year.
Applicants can only submit an application to the MOT program if they have completed, or will complete by April 30 of the application year, an accepted Human Anatomy course. Applications which list a course that does not appear on the list of Accepted Human Anatomy Courses will automatically be considered ineligible.
