Dr. Julia Schmidt was recently awarded a Michael Smith Health Research BC Scholar Award to support her goal of transforming health services following traumatic brain injury (TBI) through peer-support. This award enables Dr. Schmidt to build a leading-edge health research program, train the next generation of scientists and expand her potential to make significant contributions to the field of TBI research and peer support services.

We asked Dr. Schmidt what receiving this award means to her and how it will help her further her research.

I am so pleased to receive this award! The funds will allow me to dedicate essential time and resources to continue collaborating with key partners in the community to develop sustainable programs to improve the lives of people with traumatic brain injuries, and provide support for the graduate students helping to develop these programs.
