Party like it’s 1993! The Class of ’93 reunites

The Class of ’93 reunited this fall to celebrate a big milestone: 30 years since graduation! Happily, the majority of the class are still practising OTs (or have just recently retired from OT practice) and it was a joyous affair, whilst also being a testament to the friendships and bonds that have lasted through the years.

Out of the original class of 32, 20 classmates were able to attend in person, with people travelling from all over – Whitehorse, Alberta, the Seattle area, and Vancouver Island – to meet up for the momentous occasion in Vancouver. One classmate also joined from Germany via videocall. Smiles were all around, and there was plenty of catching up to do.

Dr. Melinda Suto (UBC Professor Emeritus) and Dr. Susan Forwell were guests of honour, having seen the class blossom from promising young students to experienced occupational therapists. The Class of ’93 is perhaps also extra special for Dr. Forwell, as they were part of the first year/class that she taught at UBC. Many in this group are still in close contact with us and play an active part in our clinical community and in the life of the department.

Congratulations Class of ’93! What a wonderful way to stay connected with a network of classmates, friends and colleagues for 30 years (and counting…)
