
The Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy invites applications for a part-time Lecturer (60%-80% FTE) for one-year term with a possibility of extension.
Areas of teaching
Reporting to the Head of the UBC Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy, the successful candidate will engage in teaching both theory and clinical practice skills courses using diverse methods and online learning tools, participate in course planning, curriculum development, and engage in student evaluation in the Master of Occupational Therapy Program. The incumbent will participate in administrative and service activities, such as departmental and university committees. The successful applicant will join a stellar academic community and contribute to developing the next generation of occupational therapists.
Location
This position will be located at the Vancouver site (at the UBC Hospital), on the UBC Point Grey Campus. With gratitude, we acknowledge that the University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine and its distributed programs, which include four university academic campuses, are located on traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of First Nations Peoples and communities around the province.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must hold a minimum of a Master of Occupational Therapy, be eligible for registration with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC) as an occupational therapist, and be a member of the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists – BC (CAOT-BC). In addition, the candidate must have at least five years of recent practice experience as an occupational therapist, including clinical teaching in mental health and physical disability across the lifespan. The applicant must have a minimum of 3 years teaching in an academic setting that may include curriculum development, and preparing, delivering and evaluating lecture and laboratory content in a Masters of Occupational Therapy program. In addition, the successful candidate will have demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and interact with empathy, understanding and, respect of diverse perspectives. Experience in collaborating and bringing forward projects with diverse groups, including colleagues, students, and/or stakeholders, is valued.
Timeline
Review of applications will begin on April 15, 2025 and continue until the position is filled. The anticipated start date for this position is July 1, 2025 or upon a date to be mutually agreed.
