Each year, the UBC Department of Occupational Science & Occupational Therapy adjudicates awards to exceptional graduate students within the department. This year we have 13 general awards totalling over $24,650, and one entrance award with two recipients totalling $25,000 in value to distribute among our learners. These awards celebrate students’ work in various research fields, clinical placement, connection to the OSOT community, and general academic excellence. In addition to our students, UBC OSOT is grateful to be able to honour faculty, clinical faculty, and staff members, who have made meaningful contributions to education, teaching, research, student experience, mentorship and clinical practice. Lai Lun and Suk Woon Ma Entrance Award
The Lai Lun and Suk Woon Ma Entrance Award in Occupational Therapy was created to assist students entering the Master of Occupational Therapy program, renewable entrance awards totalling $25,000 have been made available annually, in honour of Lai Lun and Suk Woon Ma.

Awards Application Procedure
We have a number of department awards, scholarships and bursaries that are available to Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) students. The application deadline is typically in June. For a list of UBC-wide general awards, scholarships, and bursaries, please visit the UBC Awards page. The Academic and Financial Awards Package includes details of each award, scholarship and bursary, alongside the criteria upon which the award decision is based.
Please do not submit awards applications outside of the application dates.

To apply, you must submit a single Complete Application package to brittany.dakers@ubc.ca by the deadline listed above.
Students who may apply for Scholarships and Awards will be emailed to notify them of their eligibility.
- Download the Academic and Financial Awards Package (2026) and read the information inside.
- Create a Cover Letter (CV) in the format provided, this is required for all graduate students applying for awards.
- The Main Application Form (2026) completed.
