We are refreshing our departmental photography on the OSOT website and in the OSOT quarterly newsletter, and we are holding an afternoon indoor photography shoot.
Participants in the main shoot are also offered the opportunity to have outdoor professional headshots taken after the shoot (optional).
Key details
Date: Wednesday July 13
Time: 12:30pm-2:30pm (optional headshot session between 2:30pm-3:30pm, where a specific time will be allocated for each individual)
*Please ensure you are available for the whole time between 12:30-3:30pm if you would like to take part in the headshot session*
Location: Lab 1/2 (and select seminar rooms)
More about the session
We’re looking for 5-10 students to take part in an afternoon of semi-staged photography with local photographer Sarah Race.
The intention is to capture the experience of some of the MOT classes, scenes of group work and seminars, and help give an indication of the types of activities prospective students can expect as part of the program.
A number of faculty will lead mini-teachings and demonstrations in group settings, and participating students will be asked to simply relax and follow the exercises whilst Sarah pauses the scene and captures the class in action.
Scenes may include:
- Group planning with a white board
- Seminar sessions
- Hand splinting
- Wheelchair prescription
- Bed transfer/overhead lifts
- Class exercises (e.g., mental health traffic light indicators)
- Anatomy class
- Demonstrations with the Pediatric test kits
Advice on clothing
We also have some professional tips on ‘how to look your best’ (and the most relaxed and comfortable) and how to avoid distracting the camera (e.g., by choosing not to wear non-UBC logos and clothes of certain colours/patterns) with the useful Advice on clothing list.
How to sign up
To express interest in taking part, please ensure you are available and then complete this quick form by 5pm Monday (July 11).
You will be emailed on Tuesday morning to confirm your spot in the main photography session and you will also received an allocated time slot for your headshot photograph (if appropriate).
