Meet our New Rehabilitation Sciences Students

The Graduate Programs in Rehabilitation Sciences, which the Departments of OSOT and Physical Therapy run jointly, welcomed one new PhD student and six new Master of Science (MSc) students who started their programs in January 2023.

  • Ryan Stein is our newest PhD student. Ryan completed his MSc with us last fall 2022 and will be continuing his research with Dr. Teresa Liu-Ambrose (PT) into healthy aging, specializing in lifestyle interventions that promote positive health outcomes in older adults.

Our new MSc students bring with them a diversity of research interests:

  • Elyott Chang is working with Dr. Michael Hunt (PT) on knee osteoarthritis, specifically how wearable technology can predict early onset and whether a squatting exercise program can be used to decrease symptoms.
  • Victoria Cirone comes to us from the Neuroscience program and is working with Dr. Teresa Liu-Ambrose (PT) on dementia risk in perimenopausal females.
  • Avneet Dhillon is working with Dr. Skye Barbic (OSOT) on youth mental health accessibility for South Asians.
  • Beier Lin is working with Dr. Courtney Pollock (PT) on implementing Virtual Reality as a post-stroke rehabilitation technique.
  • Sobhan Poormasjedimeibod comes to us from Iran and is working with Dr. Ben Mortenson (OSOT) on use of assistive technology for individuals living with spinal cord injury.
